LDMFA will play host to the members of the Melbourne Radio Controller Helicopter Club for an interclub fun fly as a lead up to the Victorian State Championships being held in November. The Field will be closed to general flying from 10.30 am – 4.00 pm on Sunday 12th September. Click through to October and you’ll see every weekend there’s something on around the state to [...] This is a fantastic prize for any RC enthusiast. Ron Schulz will be representing Australia in the AOCC F3A championships in the Philippines in September year. This is to raise funds for all the team members. Take a minute to watch this footage of Rick , Tom and Igor (all Lilydale members) practicing pylon at Bendigo club the Sunday before last in very windy conditions. The video below was taken over the two days of the VMAA Trophy 2010. We have Jake flying Heli, a really big scale Cessna and Matt Bailey’s Edge 540. The latter half of the video clip is all from the “Keychain cam” on Matt McNiece’s Fun-Fly. The tiny camera mounted on the rudder captures a few [...] About 20 or so people camped at the field Saturday night in tents, caravans, trailers, swags and even the clubhouse. We had howling wind and quite a bit of rain overnight and it wasn’t looking great for Sunday. By starting time Sunday (around 9am) the rain had stopped but the wind persisted. First up was Lee Cutts [...] Whether you’re competing or not its a great chance to get out and support your club. Details of the event can be found here; If you haven’t been to the state field before (like me) Google maps says from Bayswater it’s about 90kms and 1 hour 40 minutes. Depending on the mobile network coverage at the state field, [...] The VMAA trophy isn’t far away now. It will be held at the VMAA State Flying Field at Darraweit Guim. The focus of the event is fair play and maximum fun so anyone who has their bronze wings is qualified to represent the club. Often it’s not the fastest, highest or biggest models that win, it’s [...] Well the predicted thunderstorms held off and the weather turned out to be a treat. It was overcast, not a whole lot of wind and up around 28°. The Boomerang class was popular again (open to any 40ish sized trainer(ish) plane) that lets anyone get in and have a go.
